If you are designing your own artwork, make sure it is consistent and best promotes both your department and UMSU. Unfortunately, we cannot edit your files, but we can give advice on how to apply logos and make amendments to ensure your design meets the requirements and standards of UMSU.

If you would like to go with your own design, please request 'artwork approval' when submitting your help request.

Please Note: All designs created by you which feature the UMSU logos must be approved by the Design Department before being shown to public.

When creating assets by yourself, remember:
  • You need approval before publishing.
  • You are responsible for design in its entirety.
  • To create designs to the correct sizes and formats.
  • You need to make any changes yourself.
  • It will take more of your time
When creating your own artwork, images cannot be used for militaristic, sexist, racist, homophobic purposes, or to promote racial, sexual, or religious discrimination.

Please also keep copyright regulations in mind when using an image or artwork from the internet. Find out more about sourcing images legally here. Fonts are also covered by copyright. More info on font use here.

How to set up artwork for print

If you want to print a graphic on a t-shirt, you need to set your artwork up as a vector file (EPS or PDF), using the approved branded CMYK colours. Take into account any bleed or trim marks, which may vary from printer to printer. Ask the printer what they require before supplying any artwork to them. If you are stuck, you can always ask us for our assistance on this too.
